Data sources
Every campground on this site is built from public data. Here is where each part of it comes from, and the licence it is used under.
- OpenStreetMap contributors — Open Database License (ODbL). Campground locations, addresses, phone numbers, websites, operators and postal codes.
- Overture Maps Foundation — overturemaps.org. Campground records. Licence varies by underlying source: CDLA Permissive 2.0, Apache 2.0 (Foursquare-sourced records), or CC0 1.0.
- GeoNames — CC BY 4.0. Postal code reference data.
- U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line — public domain. Place boundaries.
- USGS Geographic Names Information System — public domain. Nearest town names.
- Recreation.gov / RIDB — federal campground details.
- Michigan DNR — state park and state forest campground data.
Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap and credited on each map. Where a campground’s own operator has told us something directly, that takes precedence over all of the above.
